PROJECT BRIEF

The A2B Trial is a randomised controlled trial comparing the α2-agonists clonidine and dexmedetomidine with current usual care sedation (propofol). The Trial aims to determine which sedative is most clinically effective for mechanically ventilated patients and offers the best value to the NHS, given important differences in properties and cost between the 3 drugs.

We were commissioned by the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian to create a set of modules that would introduce and support staff in the early stages of the trial. The modules were firstly desgined to inform staff of the trial study, but also to provide critical information on how to begin and administer the trial.
